Clapotis
Almost done (new photo coming when I finish it, finally) The ever-trendy Clapotis from knitty.com, made for my mother for Christmas. I was skeptical about how this would look in a solid color but I think the cherry red cascade 220 is bright enough to pull it off. Somewhere between a scarf size and a shawl size, making this one massive honking project (moreso after I blocked it - and yes, I hear blocking is a nono, but I had some shlubby bits in the straight sections that needed smoothing). I think mom will dig, though, and the fun of dropping all those stitches has tempted me to consider one for myself.

Knit Primarily to: Daily Show, Colbert Report, a whole lot of random TV, some Firefly, Avatar, Sailormoon season 1
Status: knitted, blocked, and half seamed!

Cunning Hat
A commission (will knit for books) for a friend to give to her brother, the infamous hat that Jayne wears in Firefly in that episode I will someday watch. It's been ages since I last made a hat and it'll be fun. I'm using leftover Lion's Pride Bulky that I purchased from Jeanne and hopefully they'll last me through the pompom (buying new skeins for the pompom would suck). I think I'm in love with this yarn. Not nearly as itchy as I thought it would be and so refreshing for my poor wrists (I have missed using 10.5's!)

Knit Primarily to: the modern Dracula film

Psychadelic Squares
I'm insane, but I want to make a bedsize blanket. Out of little pieces I'll have to all sew together at the end. Right. Insane. But how can anyone resist the power of the Psychadelic Squares blanket? So kitchy and fun! And I recently came into a ton of acrylic (to add to my already rather large stash) so I thought I'd go for it. I'm trying to use black in all of them to unify the piece, but I may end up limiting my color use further. We'll see. After I finish this square, I'm shelving this until my Christmas presents are done.

Knit Primarily to: computer delays at work

Dad-Vest
Photo Not Available The present for dad for Christmas is a man-vest. I'm tentatively using the pattern for "Petrol" from knitty.com's man issue, but I'm having cold feet. I know it'll look good in the shade of Cascade 220 I'm using (again with the Cascade 220) and my swatch has a really pretty drape but... but what if he doesn't like it? I need to steal his sweater again and ponder.

Neck Warmer
Yeah, this just was an eternal battle and I decided to rip it out. So now it lies in project hell - sorry! I will find something else for you, luscious plum cotton yarn, I promise!

Glampyre Mini Sweater
I am in love with Glampyre's Boob Holder mini sweater. It's a really cute cut and the way she makes her patterns eliminates some of my natural garment aversion. I have 2 balls of Malabrigo's Burgundy yarn and I plan on bringing in some black worsted yarn to do some funky color work. We'll see how it goes! For now it's in my "I swatched you, I know what I need to do you, now I may postpone you for a while depending on how things go."
