The Frog Prince (Strawberry Comics; pub. August 2008)
I did a series of illustrations about 2 years ago of various fairytales playing out in modern times and I ended up revisiting my concept for the Frog Prince in the form of a comic. This was my first foray into writing a full-length piece outside of a 24 hour comic, and an experiment with greytone shading.

Would you like a Bag for your Bag? (June 2007, pub. January 2008)
Originally created for online publication through Inktart. They wanted comics themed around real issues, so that gave me an excuse to finally create a piece about plastic bag laws/how that impacts me in a retail sphere. Like a majority of my autobiographical work, it's compiled from a couple different incidents

Window Seat (small town/BIG CITY, Young American Comics; pub. July 2007)
For this story, I pulled from a particularly memorable moment where I got trapped in the subway. I curbed my experimentation with shading since I wasn't 100% sure on what the print requirements would be. In hindsight, the transition between inks and shading is one of my favorite parts of the piece.

Take me out to the Ballpark (Girls' Guide to Guy Stuff, Friends of Lulu; drawn January 2006, pub. July 2007 )
I went to a baseball game with a very feminine female friend of mine and she totally floored me with her overflowing enthusiasm for the sport. My shock and awe at how she balanced sports fandom with girliness inspired me to turn it into a comic. I learned an awful lot through this piece and it still shocks me that it doesn't show more growing pains. Also, this short piece got me a mention in the Beat!

Littlest Elle (August 2007-present)
Shortly after Comiccon I started doing a periodic comic diary/journal that highlighted random moments from my life. Like all comic journals, mileage may vary, but it's been a lot of fun to stick with it. I think this simplified style has some of my best facial expressions.

52 Comic Challenges (August 2007-present)
All the assorted comics created for the 52 comic challenges website. They post a prompt every week (such as "tell a comic without words") and it's up to each artist for how to interpret that. I've been following the group since day one and I fully intend to complete all the prompts.

24 Hour Comic #3 (October 2007)
Technically this was part of the 52 Challenge, but it turned into such a monstrous entity on its own that it deserves to be highlighted. I ended up choosing some bizzarre style limitations for myself. As a result, the art is rough, but experimental. Surprisingly, the story is coherent! I may just revisit this piece someday.

Hourly Comic Day? (February 2006)
My participation in Hourly Comic Day for 2006, back from when I had the desk job. I can't recall doing much in the way of journal comics before this one, which is odd, as it's basically exactly what I do with Littlest Elle. I guess HCD is to thank for my current approach?
